Job summary

Werner Enterprises is offering a 11-week paid summer internship at our Corporate Headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska. The program provides dedicated job training, learning opportunities, and a collaborative, inclusive work environment.

Interns will gain real-world experience in logistics and supply chain management while supporting fleet operations, load planning, and performance analysis. Housing assistance may be available and remote/off-site options could be offered in some cases.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Eagerness to learn logistics and supply chain management.

Responsibilities

• Learn how to manage and support a fleet of drivers to maximize productivity, safety, and service.
• Dive into logistics and supply chain management, overseeing driver assignments from start to finish.
• Collaborate with load planners and account teams to find optimal transportation solutions using internal tools.
• Track metrics like driver production, deadhead, and retention to ensure success.
• Develop and present a Summer Project Proposal addressing a major business need.

Internship Overview:

• Paid internship that includes dedicated job training and learning opportunities

Responsibilities:

• Learn how to manage and support a fleet of professional drivers to maximize productivity, safety, and operational efficiency while ensuring top-tier customer service.
• Dive into every aspect of logistics and supply chain management, overseeing driver assignments from start to finish while managing in-transit progress and service workflows for smooth end-to-end execution.
• Work directly with load planners and account management teams to analyze and determine optimal transportation solutions, leveraging internal platforms and tools to maximize freight efficiency and minimize dwell time.
• Track operational metrics—such as driver production, deadhead, and retention to ensure high performance and operational success.
• Develop and present a comprehensive Summer Project Proposal, taking insights gained from the operations role to address a key business need—a major, time-intensive initiative throughout the internship.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or related field
