Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space seeks a Safety Engineer to develop and sustain safety programs across multiple disciplines at the SWFLANT site. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with safety regulations, analyzing complex data, and preparing clear environmental-health reports.

This is a full-time, on-site position near Kings Bay, GA, with potential shift work. A U.S. DoD Secret clearance is required to start, with an Interim Secret clearance eligible before employment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental, and/or industrial‑hygiene (or equivalent experience/combined education).
• Experience managing ESH programs in manufacturing, production, or DoD environments.
• Familiarity with environmental, safety, and health regulations applicable to DoD programs.
• Strong digital literacy in Microsoft Suite, with emphasis on concise analytical reports.
• Ability to analyze complex technical data from chemical data sheets and EH surveys.
• Experience with hazardous‑waste and chemical‑management programs.
• Ability to deliver oral presentations that persuade and explain procedures clearly.
• Demonstrated capability to manage multiple projects and prioritize workload.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and sustain safety programs across ordnance, radiation, environmental, hazardous materials, ergonomics, fall protection, and other disciplines.
• Examine plans and specifications for new machinery or facilities to ensure safety precautions are included.
• Tour plant to inspect fire and safety equipment, identify hazards, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Investigate industrial accidents to minimize recurrence.
