Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a Safety Engineer to support the safety manager and project team on construction projects. The role applies safety policies, analyzes hazards, and helps plan safety activities in field and office.

You will assist with accident investigations, OSHA interactions, and monitor the safety performance of trade partners, while pursuing required courses and maintaining compliance.

Qualifications

• A 4-year degree preferred in a related field.
• Occupational Safety and Health degree suggested.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Strong communication skills and safety knowledge.
• Proficiency with Excel, Prolog, Primavera and AutoDesk.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with stakeholders including Hensel Phelps staff, craft and trade partners.
• Know safety program, owner requirements, and applicable regulatory standards (EM 385-1-1).
• Assist the project superintendent with accident prevention plan and safety management tools.
• Participate in the six-step quality control/safety process and hazard analyses.
• Conduct safety audits and maintain project files.
• Assist with OSHA inspections and incident investigations and claims reporting.
• Monitor safety performance of Hensel Phelps and trade partners.
• Attend awareness and competent person level courses.
• Learn construction processes and roles.
