Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a Safety Engineer to support the safety manager and project team on complex construction projects. The role involves applying safety policies, monitoring activities, and addressing unsafe acts both in the field and office.

It is a safety-sensitive position with growth opportunities. You will collaborate with the project team to plan and supervise the accident prevention plan, participate in quality/safety processes, and assist in inspections while advancing your

Qualifications

• A 4-year degree is preferred.
• Occupational Safety and Health degree suggested.
• Valid Driver’s License, required.
• Strong communication skills.
• Computer software – Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel based templates, Prolog, Primavera and AutoDesk Suite.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with stakeholders including staff, craft and trade partners.
• Familiar with safety program, owner requirements and regulatory standards.
• Assist with accident prevention plan and safety management tools.
• Participate in activity hazard analyses and follow-up inspections.
• Conduct safety audits and assist with OSHA inspections.
• Support investigations of accidents and near-miss events.
• Monitor safety performance of company and partners.
• Attend competency courses and learn roles/responsibilities.
• Learn construction processes and project team dynamics.
