Job summary

SMS Mill Services, LLC in Burns Harbor, IN seeks a highly skilled Production Foreman for a 24/7, 12-hour rotating shift at the Cleveland Cliffs Steel Mill site. Key duties include leading shift operations, maintaining safety, coordinating yard movements, and ensuring production flow and documentation.

The role requires leadership in steel mill or scrap processing, strong supervisory abilities, proficiency in Excel, and a solid safety mindset.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience in steel mill, scrap processing or related Mill Service/ support business.
• Supervisory skills with ability to lead a team.
• Intermediate computer skills; Excel is a must.
• Mechanical aptitude for equipment and processes.
• Basic knowledge of quality control procedures.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Able to sit/stand/walk for extended periods; tolerate noise/temperature.
• OSHA 10 or 30 General Industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe work environment and ensure safety compliance.
• Develop, train and schedule a team of operational personnel.
• Lead shift operations and pre-shift safety meetings.
• Coordinate yard movements and production flow.
• Document production and communicate with customers as needed.
• Manage service and communications to customers.
• Resolve problems and identify opportunities to improve operations.
• Maintain required paperwork and files.
