Job Description
We are seeking a Safety Coordinator with 3 to 5 years of construction safety experience to join our team! You will oversee construction safety for high-profile projects in the Nashville region.
Physical Requirements:
- Perform extensive standing, walking, and climbing
- Lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Manipulate up to 100 lbs
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Bend, stoop, and climb a step ladder
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of construction safety from planning to implementation
- Supervise onsite personnel and subcontractors
- Interface with project inspectors, contractors, architects, engineers, city and county officials, and clients
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, client, and property owner safety requirements
- Conduct regular field inspections of work activities
- Perform daily safety briefings (Tool Box Talks)
- Maintain OSHA records (training, medical surveillance, 300 logs, etc.)
- Oversee proper use of PPE
- Ensure Competent Person designations are in order
- Conduct near miss and accident investigations
- Prepare Job and Task Hazard Analyses and maintain Safety Log Book
- Assist with permitting procedures and preparation
- Hold weekly safety meetings
- Attend management meetings such as planning and progress meetings
- Perform equipment inspections (harnesses, electrical cords, etc.)
- Assist with case management to control OSHA recordables and lost time injuries
- Manage respiratory protection levels (upgrade/downgrade)
- Enforce disciplinary policies
- Manage subcontractor safety representatives
- Develop and perform site training
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in construction safety management is required
- Familiarity with construction management software
- Strong leadership qualities
- Strong negotiation skills
- Deadline and detail-oriented
