Job summary

Southland Industries offers an Internship and New College Graduate program designed to immerse you in Occupational Health and Safety within the design/build HVAC, plumbing and fire protection industry. You will assist the Safety Manager to enforce safety procedures and learn to coordinate division safety activities on construction projects.

You will gain hands-on experience with field employees, learn OSHA regulations, and develop professional skills.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree aligned with Southland’s needs: Occupational Health and Safety.
• Working knowledge of construction safety practices and loss management.
• Ability to work with field employees/customers professionally.
• Understand and communicate OSHA regulations at state/federal/local levels.
• Strong work ethic, initiative, and drive.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all tasks on project sites are performed safely per safety policies and OSHA standards.
• Help implement the Corporate Safety Award Program.
• Distribute certification cards for industrial equipment training and maintain records.
• Report and manage company vehicle claims and workers' compensation claims.
• Update MSDS manual and assemble safety manuals for distribution.
• Assist in tailgate safety meetings and recordkeeping.
