Job summary

Westlake Chemical is seeking a Safety Training Specialist to support the implementation of safety initiatives across assigned facilities in the United States. The role involves training, coaching, auditing and providing technical support to maintain employee safety and protect assets.

The ideal candidate will conduct hazard assessments, lead accident prevention efforts and ensure compliance with OSHA, Federal and state regulations.

Qualifications

• BS degree in a related field and 1+ year of safety experience.
• Knowledge of OSHA, safety policies, and accident prevention.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to develop training and deliver safety-related instruction.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Support incident prevention and OSHA compliance programs.
• Audit facilities for conformance to safety policies.
• Develop and implement Accident Prevention Plans and health policies.
• Conduct hazard assessments and recommend solutions.
• Lead safety projects from start to finish to meet goals.
• Assist in corrective actions from root cause analysis.
• Communicate with plant management to support safety goals.
• Review process/equipment changes for safety compliance.
• Investigate incidents and near misses thoroughly.
• Provide ongoing safety training including new hire orientation.
• Analyze incident data to target improvement and safety plans.
