Job summary

Westlake Royal Building Products in Lenexa, KS seeks a Safety Specialist to support incident prevention, OSHA compliance, and safety training across plants. You will audit facilities, conduct hazard assessments, and work with management to improve the safety culture.

Responsibilities include coordinating training, investigating incidents, developing corrective actions, and ensuring adherence to federal and state safety standards.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Business, Environmental or Safety Management or related field; minimum 1 year of experience.
• Knowledge of Federal, State, fire safety, ANSI standards, and workers’ compensation laws.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to develop training and train employees on safety related subjects.
• Excellent computer skills with knowledge in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to interpret written/oral instructions and solve problems with multiple variables.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of incident prevention and OSHA compliance programs.
• Audit facilities for conformance to Federal, State, Corporate and Plant safety policies.
• Assist in implementing the Accident Prevention Plan and safety policies.
• Conduct hazard assessments and follow up through closures.
• Lead projects from start to finish to meet department goals.
• Support plant corrective actions from root cause analysis of incidents.
• Consult with plant management to support plant safety needs and culture.
• Review proposed process/equipment changes for safety compliance including ergonomics.
• Investigate incidents and near misses; ensure thorough follow-up.
• Train hourly, salary and management personnel in safety and onboarding processes.
• Analyze incident data to drive site Safety Performance Improvement Plans.
