Job summary

Block by Block is hiring Safety Ambassadors to patrol zones on foot or bike and help keep public spaces friendlier, safer, and cleaner. Weekends are required, with a 7:00am–3:30pm shift and a valid driver’s license. The role is outdoors in all weather, and English literacy is essential for reporting and communications.

This entry‑level position welcomes retirees, veterans, and graduates seeking their first job, with weekly pay and a pay advance option. Training provided.

Qualifications

• Experience required; we will train.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions (free uniforms provided).
• Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports.

Responsibilities

• Patrol the assigned zone on foot and/ or bike as a deterrent and be on the lookout for unwanted behavior and activity.
• Provide information, assistance, and directions to pedestrians and visitors. Must maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times.
• Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to local authorities via established communication methods. Must be able to articulate an accurate description of persons, vehicles, and other identifiers.
• Firmly and courteously request compliance from persons violating low-level quality-of-life crimes, such as panhandling, loitering, disruptive behavior, etc.
• Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians with a friendly greeting/smile in order to provide directions and city information.
• Responsible for making a specified number of visits to zone businesses to share information and gather contact information.
• Must be able to complete basic daily reports of tasks completed, which requires being proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.
