Job summary

Block by Block is hiring a Hospitality Ambassador to enhance public spaces by keeping them friendly, safe, and clean. You will be outdoors, interacting with pedestrians, guiding visitors, and performing light maintenance tasks in assigned zones.

The role emphasizes weekend and evening availability, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to walk for long periods. We welcome retirees, veterans, and students seeking first-time roles in a dynamic outdoor environment.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Able to work outdoors in all conditions.
• Must be able to walk or ride a 3-wheeled bike cart for an eight-hour shift.
• Experience preferred but training provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide a high level of visibility at street level to improve the appearance of the zone assigned.
• Acknowledge and engage pedestrians with a friendly greeting to provide directions and city information.
• Perform litter removal and clean up debris from streets and sidewalks.
• Dampen wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces such as trash can lids and news boxes.
• Monitor for unsafe behavior and report to Safety Ambassadors; complete basic daily reports in English.

Job Title: Hospitality Ambassador

Pay Range: $18.50 to $18.50 per hour (Weekly Pay & Pay Advance Before Pay Day!)

What You'll Be Doing :

• This role will provide a high level of visibility at the street level to carry out a wide variety of tasks to improve the overall experience and appearance of the zone they are assigned to. Must maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times.


• Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians and visitors with a friendly greeting/smile in order to provide directions and/or city information.


• Litter removal -- While moving through the zone with a rolling trash can that has supplies/tools, remove litter: fast food bags, cups, soda cans, cigarette butts and other debris on the streets/sidewalks and alleys. Remove graffiti and posters from light posts, trash cans, news boxes, etc. Pull weeds.


• Damp wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces, such as trash can lids, news boxes, etc.


• Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to the Safety Ambassadors via two-way radios. Must be able to complete basic daily reports of tasks completed, which requires being proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.
