Job summary

Block by Block is hiring a Safety Ambassador to patrol assigned zones, engage with the public, and deter unwanted activity. You may work outdoors in varying weather, with a schedule reflecting a third shift. A valid Missouri driver’s license is required and you must be at least 18 with a HS diploma or GED.

The role includes frequent reporting, interacting with pedestrians, and sharing information with local businesses. Benefits and weekly pay are offered where applicable.

• Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language to create basic reports.

Responsibilities

• Patrol the assigned zone on foot and/or bike, deter unwanted behavior and report to authorities.
• Provide information, assistance, and directions to pedestrians and visitors with a positive demeanor.
• Identify and describe persons, vehicles, and other identifiers for reporting.
• Request compliance for low-level quality-of-life violations in a firm but courteous manner.
• Engage pedestrians with greetings to provide city information and directions.
• Make visits to zone businesses to share information and collect contact details.
• Complete basic daily reports in English.

What You'll Be Doing :

• Patrol the assigned zone on foot and/ or bike as a deterrent and be on the lookout for unwanted behavior and activity.
• Provide information, assistance, and directions to pedestrians and visitors. Must maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times.
• Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to local authorities via established communication methods. Must be able to articulate an accurate description of persons, vehicles, and other identifiers.
• Firmly and courteously request compliance from persons violating low-level quality-of-life crimes, such as panhandling, loitering, disruptive behavior, etc.
• Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians with a friendly greeting/smile in order to provide directions and city information.
• Responsible for making a specified number of visits to zone businesses to share information and gather contact information.
• Must be able to complete basic daily reports of tasks completed, which requires being proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.

• Experience required . We will train.
• Valid MO Driver's License required.

• Must have the physical capacity to walk or traverse (including riding a bike) continuously during an eight-hour shift, with two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch break.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions (free uniforms provided)
