Job summary

Streetplus is seeking dependable Safety Ambassadors for Downtown Bangor, ME. This full-time, outdoor role requires 2nd/3rd shifts and weekends, with a pay of $19.57/hour. You will patrol, engage with the community, deter misbehavior, and document incidents using a smartphone and radio.

Ideal candidates have security-related experience, the ability to de-escalate tense situations, and are 18+ with a HS diploma/GED. Background checks and drug screening are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in security, loss prevention, law enforcement, or military.
• Ability to de-escalate confrontational or high-stress situations.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be physically able to walk continuously for an 8-hour shift and lift up to 25 lbs.
• Work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.
• Basic smartphone proficiency.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Candidates must undergo a background check and drug screening prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct foot patrols through your assigned zone, maintaining a high-visibility presence to deter unwanted behavior.
• Observe and report suspicious activity, quality-of-life infractions, and criminal behavior to local law enforcement and your supervisor.
• Respond to and document incidents involving trespassing, loitering, public intoxication, panhandling, and similar situations.
• Maintain working knowledge of local ordinances related to quality-of-life issues.
• Remain alert and exercise sound judgment in unpredictable or high-stress situations.

JOB SUMMARY

• Pay: $19.57/hour
• Employment Type: Full-Time (40 hrs/week)
• Shift : 2nd and 3rd; weekends
• Location: Downtown Bangor, foot patrol in the community
• Start Date: ASAP

You'll serve as a visible, uniformed presence in your assigned zone — deterring unwanted behavior, engaging with the community, and keeping the area safe and welcoming for everyone who lives, works, and visits. This is an active, outdoor role where your presence alone makes a difference every shift. Expect to frequently interact with members of public and walk several miles throughout your shift.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Patrol & Safety

Community & Reporting

• Greet pedestrians, offer directions, and assist visitors, residents, and workers
• Interact respectfully with unhoused individuals and connect them with available local resources when appropriate
• Document and report incidents, observations, and completed tasks using a smartphone and two-way radio
• Assist cleaning ambassadors with light cleaning tasks as needed

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Requirements
