Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a backend capability product specialist to own the backend platform, API ecosystem, and third‑party integration layer of our SaaS product suite. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, business strategy, and market intelligence, driving scalable, interoperable systems.

The ideal candidate combines SaaS platform expertise with a data‑driven prioritization approach, focusing on healthcare technology, EHR/EMR interoperability, and ROI‑driven roadmaps.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of product management experience in SaaS or enterprise software.
• 4+ years focused on backend systems, APIs, or platform products.
• Proven track record delivering SaaS platform features at scale.
• Deep understanding of RESTful API design, webhooks, and modern integration patterns.
• Hands-on experience with API management platforms (Apigee, AWS API Gateway, Kong, MuleSoft).
• Strong ROI modeling, market sizing, and competitive differentiation skills.
• Experience leading API or platform product strategy.

Responsibilities

• Own the product roadmap for backend systems, APIs, and data platform capabilities.
• Define API design standards, versioning strategies, and developer experience (DX) principles.
• Drive the vision for a scalable, event‑driven microservices architecture with engineering.
• Establish and govern API governance frameworks including authentication, rate limiting, and SLA commitments.
• Lead strategy for third‑party integrations and marketplace ecosystem development.
• Collaborate with architects to adopt interoperability standards (HL7 FHIR, SMART on FHIR, TEFCA).
• Monitor market trends, ROI potential, and competitive landscape to inform roadmaps.
• Translate technical requirements into clear specs, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Define and track platform KPIs: API adoption, uptime, latency, integration success, developer satisfaction.
