Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a hands-on Backend Capability Product Specialist to own the backend platform, API ecosystem, and third‑party integration layer of our SaaS product suite. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, business strategy, and market intelligence to deliver scalable, interoperable systems powering internal and partner integrations.

Qualifications

7+ years of product management experience.
4+ years focused on backend systems, APIs, or platform products.
Proven track record delivering SaaS platform features at scale, ideally in a B2B or enterprise context.
Deep understanding of RESTful API design, webhooks, async messaging, and modern integration patterns.
Hands-on experience with API management platforms (e.g., Apigee, AWS API Gateway, Kong, MuleSoft).
Strong ability to build investment cases grounded in ROI modeling, market sizing, and competitive differentiation.
Demonstrated experience leading API or platform product strategy, not just execution.

Responsibilities

Own the product roadmap for backend systems, APIs, and data platform capabilities.
Define API design standards, versioning strategies, and developer experience (DX) principles.
Drive a scalable, event-driven microservices architecture in collaboration with engineering leads.
Establish and govern API governance frameworks including authentication, rate limiting, and SLA commitments.
