Job summary

Battalion Energy is expanding its engineering team around the EMS backend platform. You will own features in major deployments, designing and delivering production capabilities reused across sites and markets.

We seek strong Rust skills, systems programming depth and the ability to move quickly in a large codebase. Remote-to-start with a move to hybrid in 2027, Austin-based relocation possible.

Qualifications

• Real strength in Rust; ability to read and contribute to a large codebase.
• Systems programming depth in concurrency, memory, timing or failure handling.
• Strong software design and coding skills with good judgment.
• Comfort reading unfamiliar code and making confident changes.
• Clear, well-tested code with interest in energy and AI data center infra.
• Ability to work independently and discuss technical disagreements constructively.

Responsibilities

• Design and build production Rust software for the EMS, taking ownership from design through release.
• Propose and document technical designs, then iterate with senior engineers.
• Collaborate with project teams to understand requirements and integration needs.
• Translate needs into reusable platform features and reliable production code.
• Improve reliability, performance, diagnostics and maintainability across sites.
• Participate in architecture discussions and document decisions for others.
