Job summary

Amazon Robotics seeks an Embedded Software Engineer to develop safety-rated firmware in Rust for autonomous robots. You will work across heterogeneous multicore platforms, integrating sensor pipelines from drivers to real-time collision detection, while collaborating with hardware, safety, and navigation teams.

The role requires Rust proficiency (or strong C/C++) and experience with RTOS/Linux on the same chip, plus familiarity with IEC 61508 safety standards and ROS/ROS2 ecosystems.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 3+ years of embedded firmware development experience
• Proficiency in embedded development in Rust or strong C/C++ with willingness to switch to Rust
• Experience with sensor data acquisition or processing (cameras, LiDAR, ToF)

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain safety-rated embedded firmware in Rust on multicore platforms.
• Work across full sensor processing pipeline from driver to collision detection.
• Design perception features for obstacle detection under IEC 61508 safety standards.
• Contribute to interfaces and tooling (gRPC/Protobuf, CLI, visualization) for navigation and provisioning workflows.
• Produce design documents and safety analyses for third-party certification.
• Debug end-to-end on real robots at test facilities and in production.
