Job summary

Amazon Robotics is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer with deep Rust expertise to lead safety-rated firmware development for autonomous robot fleets. You will guide subsystems of the Safety Perception stack, owning end‑to‑end problems and driving real‑time sensor processing on heterogeneous MCU/CPU/GPU platforms.

You will mentor engineers, produce safety artifacts, and collaborate with hardware, safety, and navigation teams to ensure robust, certifiable performance in production

Qualifications

• 6+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 6+ years of programming with at least one language
• Experience mentoring, tech lead, or leading an engineering team
• Proficiency in embedded Rust; or strong C/C++ with willingness to work in Rust
• 6+ years of full software development life cycle including reviews and ops
• Experience with heterogeneous multi‑core platforms
• Experience with low-level drivers and hardware debugging
• Safety standards familiarity (IEC 61508 or ISO 26262)

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and architecture of major firmware subsystems in Rust on heterogeneous multi‑core platforms
• Set technical direction across the full sensor processing pipeline and influence hardware teams
• Own the team’s hardest end‑to‑end problems and frame solutions
• Drive perception features for IEC 61508 certification with robust data integrity
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar through reviews
• Produce design documents and safety artifacts for third‑party certification
• Lead debugging and root‑cause analysis on real robots and test floors
• Leverage AI coding assistants to multiply team effectiveness
