Job summary

UEC Advanced Electronics is seeking a hands‑on Mechanical Design Engineer to develop rugged battery systems, power electronics assemblies, and related electromechanical products for military, aerospace, industrial, and commercial applications.

You will own mechanical design from concept through prototype, validation, and production transfer, applying CAD, analysis, testing, supplier interaction, and cross‑functional collaboration to deliver robust, manufacturable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 2+ years of professional mechanical design experience.
• Strong proficiency with 3D parametric CAD, preferably SolidWorks.
• Experience creating detailed engineering drawings for manufactured components and assemblies.
• GD&T, tolerance stack‑up analysis, fits, fasteners, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience designing machined, sheet‑metal, molded, and/or additive‑manufactured components.
• Ability to perform mechanical engineering calculations (statics, dynamics, heat transfer, materials).
• Experience developing and testing physical prototypes.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems and drive design improvements.
• Strong communication with engineers, technicians, manufacturing personnel, suppliers, and program leadership.
• Comfortable in a fast‑paced, hands‑on engineering and manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical concepts and detailed designs for battery components, modules, pack‑level systems, electronic enclosures, power electronics assemblies, fixtures, and related electromechanical hardware.
• Create and maintain production‑quality 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
• Apply GD&T, tolerance analysis, material selection, fastener design, sealing methods, thermal interfaces, and mechanical design principles.
• Design components and assemblies using CNC machining, sheet‑metal fabrication, injection molding, additive manufacturing, extrusions, seals, gaskets, and fasteners.
• Perform engineering calculations and thermal and structural analysis, including FEA where appropriate.
• Design for demanding environmental conditions including shock, vibration, temperature extremes, ingress protection, and mechanical loading.
• Support development and qualification testing per customer requirements, internal specs, and standards.
• Develop prototype hardware and participate in prototype assembly, instrumentation, testing, troubleshooting, teardown, and design iteration.
• Translate requirements into mechanical design specs and ensure verifiability and validation.
• Participate in design reviews and communicate decisions, tradeoffs, risks, analyses, and test findings.
