The Townsend Hotel is seeking a server for regular full-time hours in Birmingham, MI. The successful candidate will take customer orders, ensure timely presentation of meals, and maintain accurate cash handling with a modern POS system.
You will collaborate with expeditors, bartenders, and management to deliver exceptional service. Applicants should have at least 2 years in fine dining, strong English communication, and the ability to upsell and enhance the dining experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The server will take the guest order and is responsible for the proper presentation and timing of all food and beverages.
The server will open and close guest checks, utilizing proper cash handling procedures.
Will have knowledge and experience working with computerized P.O.S. operations.
Must have excellent communication skills and ability to work with expediter, bartender, server assistants and management in a professional manner.
Moderate all guest requests and communicate special requests to kitchen and management.
Observe guests in order to formulate ideas that could exceed guests’ expectations.
Comprehends full detailed menu and wine pairings in order to answer all questions regarding substitutions, omissions and food allergies and communicate this information to the guest.
Provides recommendations with the idea of upselling to increase check average.
Executes all table side preparations in an proper and efficient manner according to training standards.
Understands the Rugby Grille seating chart, table numbers and seat numbers in dining room.
Addresses guest as they arrive and establish a positive rapport throughout the dining experience.
Offers, describes, and presents specials and items of interest to the guest.
Performs all necessary side work throughout shift, or as requested by management.
Monitors assigned tables in the dining room in order to anticipate and provide ongoing service.
Provides feedback to management - compliments, problems, complaints.
Familiarity with Forbes Service Standards
Ability to work a flexible, part time schedule including weekends and holidays.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 2 years of fine dining experience preferred
High school graduate or equivalent required
Requires the ability to communicate with guests in English
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Requires full mobility for entire duration of shift, walking, standing, bending, stretching, lifting
Ability to use stairs and or service elevators
Must be able to safely grasp, lift, carry or otherwise move goods weighing up to 30 lbs
