Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for the Pineville location to provide expert respiratory care across adult and pediatric patients. The role involves operating oxygen delivery systems and ventilators, performing diagnostic procedures, and collaborating with the care team to optimize patient outcomes.

Responsibilities include evaluating therapies, documenting results, and participating in emergency procedures.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Respiratory Care.
• Associate's RRT or RRT Equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the applicable state.
• BLS required per policy guidelines.
• Advanced certifications per facility policy/standards.
• For critical care roles, 2 years of CCU/ICU experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge in various modes and methods of oxygen delivery and the equipment needed for each and can conduct prescribed therapeutic procedures to achieve adequate oxygenation.
• Administers therapeutic procedures, understanding the purpose and benefits, and possible effects associated with each.
• Performs diagnostic procedures as outlined in policy.
• Initiates, monitors and maintains mechanical and non-invasive ventilators.
• Evaluates current therapies and makes recommendations regarding plans of care and patient education.
• Documents therapy and results; communicates with the healthcare team.
• Initiates and adjusts respiratory care techniques in emergencies.
• Performs blood sampling analyses with understanding of results and implications.
• Works independently across patient care areas and assists teammates as needed.
• Is proficient in EMR and its interface with Respiratory Care.
