Job summary

Methodist Southwest Medical Center in Dallas is seeking a Full-time Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide adult and neonatal respiratory care, including ventilator support, ABG, and PFTs. The RRT works under the department’s medical director and must adapt care to diverse patient populations.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care Program, Texas licensure, and BLS/ACLS; ARDS and neonatal experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapies including oxygen administration, aerosol and humidity therapy, airway maintenance and ventilator support.
• Performs and reports arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, and ECGs.
• Prepares treatment evaluations with bedside respiratory assessment and chart review.
• Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFT results.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment.
• Maintains infection control, safety and quality assurance in the department.
