Job summary

Golden Gopher Athletics in Minnesota is seeking an Assistant Coach/Boathouse Manager to support the head coach in coaching duties and to oversee equipment and boathouse operations. This role involves maintaining rowing gear, managing a small student workforce, and coordinating travel to competitions.

The position requires travel, weekend/evening work as competitions demand, and a commitment to safety and program standards. It offers a 100% appointment and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• BA/BS or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least four years.
• Frequent travel required; some work in evenings, weekends, holidays as competitions require.
• Valid U.S. driving license and ability to transport large trailers safely.
• Ability to move equipment weighing up to 100 pounds and navigate uneven surfaces.
• Flexible schedule with daily practices and travel to 10–15 away competitions annually.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Coach in coaching and creating a high‑performing, inclusive training environment.
• Fleet oversight: maintain and repair rowing equipment and manage renewal/replacement projects.
• Boathouse management: schedule maintenance, oversee dock usage, supervise 4–6 student workers, manage operating budget.
• Assist with race day management and planning for trailer travel.
