Job summary

The University of Minnesota is seeking an Assistant Coach/Boathouse Manager to support the head coach in developing a competitive NCAA rowing program and to oversee the boathouse facility, equipment, and student workers.

This full-time position requires travel to 10–15 away competitions, supervising 4–6 student workers, managing an operating budget, and ensuring compliance with NCAA and conference rules.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS or equivalent combination of education and experience totaling at least four years.
  • Frequent travel required; some evenings and weekends.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to transport large trailers safely.
  • Ability to move equipment weighing up to 100 pounds and navigate uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to work independently with a highly flexible schedule including daily practices and travel to 10–15 away competitions annually.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Head Coach in coaching and creating a high performing, inclusive training environment.
  • Fleet oversight: maintain and repair rowing equipment and manage renewal/replacement projects.
  • Boathouse manager: schedule maintenance, oversee dock, supervise 4–6 student workers, manage operating budget.
  • Perform administrative responsibilities including race day management and trailer travel planning.
  • Coordinate eligibility and compliance with head coach and athletics administration.
