Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Right of Way Technician to support property acquisition, title research, permitting, and negotiations for transportation projects in the Richmond, VA area. The role reports to the Right of Way Project Manager and may involve field work and travel to client sites.

Candidates should understand ROW laws, title abstracts, land records, and communicate effectively with stakeholders while coordinating with project teams to keep projects moving smoothly.

Qualifications

• Thorough understanding of right of way laws.
• Ability to compile title abstracts showing complete chain of title and encumbrances.
• Ability to read and interpret land survey documents and right of way maps.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive property and title research, including long-form title searches and abstracts.
• Support landowner identification using online databases and GIS platforms.
• Lead QA/QC efforts to ensure accuracy of ROW documentation.
• Prepare project reports and handle landowner negotiations and easements.
• Assist with permitting, acquisition and coordination with project teams.
