Job summary

University of Washington is seeking an Assistant Manager for Cafes to lead Rotunda Café and related locations on the UW Medical Center campus. You will oversee espresso service, Grab & Go offerings, and the Hot Self-Service Deli program while ensuring safety, quality, and guest satisfaction.

You will supervise café staff, coach and train, manage schedules, and partner with leadership to maintain operational excellence in a healthcare setting with strong customer focus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, business administration or related field.
• Minimum of two years of management experience in the food service industry.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Project.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations for Rotunda Café and UPS/Grab & Go programs.
• Provide active floor leadership during peak service periods.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and service standards.
• Supervise staff, coach and develop performance, schedule and train.
• Monitor inventory, costs, and reporting to drive efficiency.
