Job summary

The University of Arizona is seeking an Animal Technologist II to support rodent-based research at the Tucson Campus. You will perform advanced procedures, assist with behavioral testing, and help collect and manage data with investigators and staff.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s degree with at least three years of relevant experience; AALAS certification is preferred. Excellent animal welfare standards and collaborative teamwork are essential components of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced laboratory and behavioral research (ear tagging, genotyping samples, blood collection, hormone treatment).
• Provide routine and technical support for multiple research projects under limited supervision.
• Handle and restrain rodents safely and humanely per guidelines.
• Collect, compile, and maintain accurate research data and records.
• Conduct behavioral testing (Y-Maze, Novel Object Recognition, gait analysis) and document genetic housing data.
• Maintain records using Climb and ensure accuracy of procedures.
