Job summary

Framatome in Lynchburg, VA seeks a Robotics Software Engineer to design, implement, and test autonomy features for teleoperated mobile robots used in non-destructive inspection.

You will work across Windows and Linux, integrating sensor fusion, localization, and trajectory planning. Strong C++/Python skills and ROS2 experience preferred; a track record delivering reliable robotic software with peers is expected.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of related experience.
• Proficiency in modern C++ or Python, with productive experience in the other.
• Hands-on robotics software development on Windows and Linux with Git, CMake, packaging, logging, profiling and CI.
• Direct experience in mobile robotics and robotics vision, state estimation and sensor fusion.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with the capacity to mentor others.

Responsibilities

• Design, debug, test and review robotics systems, including hardware-in-the-loop and sim-to-real environments.
• Build, configure and integrate subsystems for sensor fusion, perception and remote deployment.
• Prototype and mature localization and state estimation (visual-inertial odometry and SLAM).
• Develop and tune trajectory planning for mobile robots using cost maps and planners.
• Diagnose sensor integration issues, timing and system failures.
• Own a specific application over time, providing technical leadership and mentoring engineers.
