Job summary

Field AI is seeking a Systems Engineer for Large Wheeled Platforms to bring new robotic platforms into our fleet and ensure operation at high standards in real-world environments. This role spans platform integration, robot control, autonomy, sim-to-real validation, and electro-mechanical integration.

You will collaborate with Autonomy/RL, Manipulation, Mechanical, and Electrical teams to build tightly integrated solutions for deployment in challenging field environments.

Qualifications

• B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Robotics, CS, or related field.
• 1–5 years of experience.
• Middleware ROS/ROS2 and computing languages Python, C++.
• Robotics software generalist across controls, navigation, and integration.
• Sim-to-Real with RL or autonomy policies.
• Cross-functional hardware knowledge: motors, actuation, BLDC, power distribution.
• Familiarity with CAN bus, EtherCAT.
• Systems thinking across mechanical, electrical, controls, autonomy.

Responsibilities

• Platform abstraction between ROS/ROS2 and Field AI systems.
• Integrate control stacks and payloads on robotic platforms.
• Sim-to-Real validation of autonomy policies.
• Coordinate across Autonomy/RL, Manipulation, Mechanical, Electrical teams.
• Ensure safety and field deployment readiness.
• Support multi-robot fleet operations and charging infrastructure.
