Job summary

Sturm, Ruger & Co. in Prescott, AZ seeks a Robotics Engineer to maintain and improve robotic machine-tending systems supporting CNC processes. You will troubleshoot robot programs, CNC handshakes, PLC interfaces, and safety systems while advancing preventive maintenance and small development projects.

Strong hands-on problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration are essential. You will also support new-part introductions, equipment upgrades, and process validation, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in robotics, electrical/mechanical engineering or related field preferred; hands-on automation experience accepted.
• Hands-on experience maintaining and programming industrial robots in production.
• Ability to read robot programs, electrical schematics and equipment manuals.
• Experience with robot-CNC and robot-PLC interfaces and safety systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily hands-on support for robotic CNC machine-tending cells to minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot robot programs, CNC handshakes, PLC interfaces, HMIs, safety circuits, sensors and end-effectors.
• Diagnose failures using alarms, logs and root-cause analysis; implement corrective actions.
• Develop preventive and predictive maintenance for robots and peripherals.
• Maintain robot programs and documentation; support startup, changeovers and trials.
• Train technicians and operators; track downtime and drive uptime improvements.
