Job summary

1X is hiring an Assembly Technician in Hayward, CA to translate engineering intent into physical robots, building precision subassemblies with exacting tolerances so NEO can move, learn, and operate safely alongside real people.

The role requires strong hand-tool proficiency, mechanical assembly experience, and English fluency, with day or swing shifts and a compensation range of $30.00–$39.00 per hour plus equity.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in mechanical assembly or manufacturing.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform sustained hands-on, physical work throughout a shift.
• Able to read and follow assembly drawings, work instructions, and engineering documentation.
• Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and basic measuring instruments (calipers, torque wrenches, gauges).
• Professional-level English proficiency (written and verbal)

Responsibilities

• Assemble precision mechanical subassemblies to meet exacting tolerances.
• Meet daily and weekly production output targets while maintaining quality and safety standards.
• Deliver subassemblies that pass first-time inspection with minimal rework.
• Maintain dimensional accuracy and proper torque specifications across every assembly.
• Identify and escalate tooling problems or recurring defects to improve the line.
