Technique is seeking an Automation Technician for our North Carolina chassis facility. You will set up GTAW/GMAW welds, program and troubleshoot robotic welders, and support QA with layouts and fixture development.

The role requires 2+ years in welding, blueprint reading, GD&T, and PLC/offline programming. You will work with Motoman, Panasonic, and Fanuc robots, ensuring safety and continuous improvement in a fast-paced shop.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of welding experience in an industrial setting.
• Basic understanding of GD&T and print reading.
• Comfort reading blueprints and applying GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate GTAW/GMAW on mild steel joints.
• Troubleshoot projection welder; adjust settings as needed.
• Read engineering drawings and perform first-piece layouts.
• Develop and verify prototype fixtures and documentation for quality.
• Load and run robot welders; recover from faults and restart programs.
• Interpret CMM reports and adjust robot points for dimensional conformance.
• Change PLC programs and fixtures to support new parts.
• Perform advanced robotic welder adjustments and offline programming.
• Aim for first-piece quality and drive process improvements.
• Support quality team with part layouts and inspections.
