Job summary

Technique is seeking a Robotic Welding Technician for our North Carolina chassis facility. You will operate MIG/TIG on stainless and carbon steel, support QA with layouts and inspections, and develop production fixturing.

The role covers robot programming, troubleshooting, and process improvements while maintaining safety and quality. Ideal candidates have 2+ years welding experience, competence in GTAW/GMAW, and reading blueprints with GD&T.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; vocational training preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of welding experience in an industrial setting.
• Basic understanding of GD&T and print reading.
• Basic understanding of hand tools and layout/inspection tools.
• Preferred robotic welding experience with Motoman, Panasonic, or Fanuc systems, including point touch-ups, adjustments, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with PLC programming and robotic system calibration preferred.
• Ability to perform robotic welder preventative maintenance.
• Advanced GD&T understanding and CAD/SolidWorks experience desirable.
• Must be able to lift items over 50 pounds; stand/walk for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Welder Setup & Operation: GTAW & GMAW on mild steel joints; read weld symbols and apply basic GD&T.
• Projection Welder Operations: set up and troubleshoot projection welder; manage fixture locations.
• Blueprint Reading & Layout: perform 1st piece table layouts; interpret drawings for conformance.
• Prototype Welding & Troubleshooting: document issues and verify prototype fixtures.
• Robot Welder Loading & BSR Operations: operate robot welder, perform repairs, restart programs.
• CMM Report Interpretation: understand CMM reports and adjust robot points.
• PLC Programming & Fixture Changeover: change programs and manage fixture changes.
• Advanced Robotic Welder Operation: harmonize, time, and set up new fixtures.
• Offline Programming & First Piece Quality: use offline software to prep jobs and ensure first piece quality.
• Quality Support & Documentation: support QA with layouts and inspections.
• Fixturing Design & Implementation: assist in fixture design for new part launches.
• Workplace Safety: follow safety procedures; overtime as needed.
