Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED/HiSET is required.
• Valid Driver's License is required.
• Passing grade on the written portion of the CDL exam is required prior to hire date; must pass driving portion with tanker endorsement, Class B, and interstate status within 60 days after hire.
• Successful completion of a work simulation examination and a medical-physical examination.

Responsibilities

• Maintain state highway systems: fill joints/cracks, patch potholes, direct traffic with signs/cones, and haul materials.
• Maintain and repair state highway facilities: repair signs/guardrails, clean curbs, paint buildings/equipment, service machinery.
• Operate vehicles to transport personnel/equipment, plow snow, spread ice control, and mow right of way; operate heavy equipment.
• May repair bridge decks and clean bridge bents/caps at heights using ladders/scaffolding.
• May install signs and inspect signs; weld and cut sign posts; maintain signs.
