Job summary

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Fort Wayne District is seeking a Facilities Repair Specialist to supervise maintenance staff and perform preventive maintenance and repairs on highway facilities and related equipment. A CDL is required or must be obtained within 90 days, and a high school diploma or GED is mandatory.

Basic duties include operating highway maintenance equipment, performing winter operations, and assisting in inspections and contract work.

Qualifications

• CDL required or obtained within first 90 days of employment.
• Must pass and submit to a drug test.
• General knowledge of highway guidelines and practices.
• MS Office skills (Word, Outlook, Excel).
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Able to perform physical activities and withstand weather exposure.
• Read and follow technical documents.

Responsibilities

• Comply with INDOT safety policies and procedures.
• Operate highway maintenance and traffic equipment to maintain/repair highways.
• Perform winter operations including snow and ice removal.
• Assist in emergency response tasks like traffic control and barricades.
• Perform regular inspections and routine equipment maintenance.
• Document work in the Work Management System (WMS).
• Install/maintain traffic signs and pavement markings.
• Coordinate with Supervisor to ensure materials and equipment are available.
• Communicate employee issues to Supervisor.
• Attend worksite as part of regular schedule.
