Job summary

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Fort Wayne Sub-District seeks a Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair heavy equipment, light vehicles, and related tools. You will diagnose issues, perform major overhauls, and support snow/ice operations, with CDL prerequisites and on-site training provided.

Qualifications

• CDL class A or B required or obtainable within 90 days of employment.
• Strong knowledge of automobiles, systems, and repairs.
• Ability to use diagnostic equipment and follow safety procedures.
• Capable of maintaining EMS records and basic tool management.

Responsibilities

• Rebuild/repair major parts on cars, light trucks, heavy-duty trucks and equipment.
• Perform minor repairs and tire/service tasks.
• Install snowplow blades and repair plow assemblies.
• Maintain EMS records and order parts as needed.
• Respond to roadside service calls and attend safety trainings.
