Job summary

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Peru Unit is seeking a Highway Maintenance Laborer to perform maintenance on Indiana highways, interstates, and bridges. Duties include road repair, drainage maintenance, snow removal, and assisting with traffic control during emergencies.

This entry-level role requires a high school diploma or GED; overtime is mandatory for emergency operations, including winter. CDL is required or to be obtained within 90 days.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A or B required or to be obtained within 90 days of employment.
• Drug test as a condition of employment.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Perform physically demanding tasks and endure inclement weather.
• Operate basic highway maintenance/traffic equipment.
• Follow directions and work as part of a team.
• A degree is not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform road maintenance, repairs, and cleaning of highways and rights-of-way.
• Winter operations including snow and ice removal.
• Assist with traffic control during emergencies and road closures.
• Maintain occasional inventory for traffic signs and materials.
• Assist with inspections and routine equipment maintenance.
