Job summary

The City of Asheville is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to support maintenance, repair, and construction of roadways and utilities. You will operate bobcat, backhoe loaders, and utility trucks, perform manual labor, and ensure safe, efficient workflow on public works projects.

Requires a high school diploma or GED with vocational training in heavy equipment and at least one year of experience. A North Carolina Class B CDL must be obtained within 180 days of hire; overtime may apply and

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operates equipment for maintenance, repair, and construction of roadways and infrastructure.
• Fuels and maintains equipment; performs light repairs and checks fluids.
• Performs manual labor including digging, loading, and transporting materials.
• Adheres to safety procedures and directs traffic around work sites.
• Communicates with supervisor and coordinates work activities.
