Job summary

The Town of Huntersville is seeking a skilled equipment operator to support street and facility maintenance. You will operate backhoes, loaders, dump trucks, rollers, tractors, and other heavy equipment under the direction of the Public Works Crew Leader.

Requirements include a High school diploma or GED with 2–4 years in public works and a valid North Carolina Class A CDL. Candidates must be able to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 2–4 years of public works and maintenance experience, including operating medium to heavy construction equipment.
• Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver's License valid in North Carolina.
• Ability to read sketches and plans; operate and service motorized equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains backhoes, bulldozers, loaders, dump trucks, rollers, tractors and other equipment.
• Operates street sweepers and other specialized vehicles.
• Performs grading and paving-related tasks for parking lots, roadways, sidewalks, curbs and gutters.
• Mows rights-of-way and public grounds; performs minor repairs to signs and fixtures.
• Performs routine equipment servicing and checks fluid levels and tire pressure.
• Adheres to safety policies and works under supervision of the Public Works Crew Leader.
