The City of Hampton is seeking a safety-focused traffic maintenance worker to perform skilled tasks involving traffic signs, barriers, and guardrails to keep roadways safe for the community. The role supports traffic operations, public safety, and emergency response across the City.

Ideal candidates will have strong traffic operations experience, familiarity with tools and equipment, and the ability to work well with the public and colleagues.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Strong experience in traffic operations is required; thermo-plastic pavement markings preferred.
• Knowledge of hand tools, carpentry, mechanics or painting is needed.
• Must be IMSA Signs and Marking certified within 1 year; work zone certified within 6 months.

Responsabilités

• Perform skilled traffic maintenance involving traffic signs, barriers, and guardrails to support traffic operations and public safety.
• Work conditions may be demanding and outside standard hours; may be essential personnel during emergencies.
