Job summary

AWP Safety is seeking a skilled Sign Installer to join our national safety services team. The role focuses on installing NCDOT roadside signs, both permanent and temporary, while reading plans and maintaining safety standards on outdoor work sites.

The position requires reading construction plans, lifting heavy materials, and operating trucks and equipment with a strong emphasis on safety around traffic. Training and benefits are provided, with opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Construction experience required.
• Traffic control experience required.
• Sign installation experience preferred.
• Ability to read tape measures and construction plans.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Able to lift 75+ pounds repeatedly.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Install NCDOT Type D, E, and F permanent roadside signs per plans.
• Install temporary signs using square tubing and portable stands.
• Read construction plans, sign schedules, and traffic control plans.
• Locate, measure and mark sign locations accurately.
• Set posts in concrete or driven foundations.
• Assemble sign panels, brackets and mounting hardware.
• Verify sign height, offset, orientation and spacing to standards.
• Load, unload and transport materials safely.
• Operate company trucks, trailers and light equipment.
• Perform daily vehicle and tool inspections; maintain a clean site.
• Follow OSHA, MUTCD, and NCDOT safety requirements.
• Work safely around traffic and communicate with supervisors and project managers.
