Job summary

Washington County is seeking an Operator I to assist in the construction, improvement, and maintenance of county roads. The role involves operating road department equipment such as dump trucks, loaders, and graders, and maintaining the parts inventory and shop facilities.

Under supervision, you will support radio communications and tool upkeep while adhering to safety and security requirements, including background checks and drug testing as needed.

Qualifications

• Must pass criminal background check.
• Must pass federally mandated security clearances where required.
• Subject to pre-employment, random drug and reasonable suspicion testing.
• If a promotional position, candidate must pass an assigned drug test.

Responsibilities

• Performs labor tasks in construction, improvement, and maintenance of county roads.
• Operates road department equipment including dump trucks, loaders and graders.
• Procures and maintains parts inventory; assists with two-way radio communications; maintains shop and hand tools.
