Job summary

Washington County Government is seeking an Operator IV to support road construction, maintenance, and signage tasks. The role operates dump trucks, loaders and graders, maintains inventory, and assists with communications while keeping shop facilities in good condition.

Requirements include passing a criminal background check and drug testing. The position is full-time, Mon-Thurs 7am-5:00pm, with competitive benefits and growth opportunities in the Road department.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances where required.
• Subject to pre-employment, random drug and reasonable suspicion testing and, for promotional positions, assignment drug testing.
• All new hires must pass a pre-employment drug test and a physical examination, with verification of information provided.

Responsibilities

• Perform labor tasks in construction, improvement, and maintenance of county roads.
• Operate road department equipment including dump trucks, loaders and graders.
• Procure and maintain parts inventory, assist with two-way radio communications, and maintain shop facilities.
• Monitor identification and informational signing, install highway signs, and maintain tools and equipment.
• Manage machinery valued up to $450,000 and sign material/inventory valued at $100,000.
