Job summary

The Nevada Department of Transportation is recruiting Highway Maintenance Worker 2 positions in Fernley, Lovelock, Nixon, and Silver Springs as underfill for HWY Maintenance Worker 3. This continuing trainee level may progress after meeting minimum qualifications and with approval.

Incumbents perform routine maintenance on roadways, winter operations, and related tasks, using a range of equipment. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications; CDL may be required within six months.

Qualifications

• One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work; OR one year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Worker I in Nevada State service.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance duties to keep pavement and shoulders in good repair and assist in winter and summer maintenance activities.
• Operate and maintain a variety of highway maintenance equipment; respond to emergencies and weather-related events as needed.
• Assist in training certified operators and ensure compliance with safety policies and requirements.
