Job summary

The State of Nevada, through the Nevada Department of Transportation, is recruiting for Highway Maintenance Worker 2 positions in District II (Elko, Wells, Emigrant, North Fork, Wendover) for winter and summer seasons, not to exceed six months. Incumbents perform routine maintenance, snowplow operation, and emergency response in various weather conditions.

Qualifications

One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work.
OR one year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Worker I in Nevada State service.

Responsibilities

Operate and perform preventive maintenance and minor repair on highway maintenance and construction equipment.
Act as designated certified operator and provide training in safety policies.
Install pavement markings and traffic signs; measure and install lines and sign panels.
Apply seal coats and asphalt overlays; input data into the Maintenance Management System.
Establish traffic controls in maintenance zones and during emergencies.
Load salt and sand, apply anti-icing chemicals, and plow snow with appropriate trucks.
Monitor contract compliance and oversee contractor work as needed.
Maintain right-of-way and landscape areas; manage debris and hazards.
