Job summary

Nevada Department of Transportation in Searchlight, NV is recruiting for a Highway Maintenance Worker 2 as an underfill for a Highway Maintenance Worker 3. The role involves routine maintenance, snowplow operation, and winter anti-icing activities in varied weather.

The incumbent may progress to the next level after meeting minimum qualifications and with approval. CDL requirements are linked, and some travel may be required for trainings and operations.

Qualifications

• One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work.
• Or one year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Worker I in Nevada State service.

Responsibilities

• Operate and perform preventive maintenance and minor repair on highway maintenance equipment such as rotary snowplow, motor grader, backhoe/grade-all, chip spreader, and other listed machines.
• Act as designated certified operator for certification of Highway Maintenance Worker I’s and II’s; provide training in safety policies and requirements.
• Install, repair, and replace roadway signs and signposts; repair light fixtures and sensors on sign structures; maintain overhead sign panels.
• Maintain and monitor contract compliance and quality control including testing/materials and work performed by contractors.
• Maintain landscaped areas and the highway right-of-way; perform tree and plant maintenance.
• Respond to accidents and emergencies and complete required forms and documentation.
