Job summary

The Nevada Department of Transportation is recruiting for a Trainee Highway Maintenance Worker 2 in Tonopah, NV and surrounding areas. This trainee role performs routine maintenance on roads and related infrastructure, including snowplow operations, anti-icing activities, and summer projects.

Qualifications

• One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance or one year as Highway Maintenance Worker I in Nevada state service.
• Ability to operate and maintain a variety of highway maintenance equipment.
• Understanding and application of safety policies and requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain light, medium and heavy highway maintenance equipment.
• Install and repair roadway signs and markings.
• Respond to emergencies and incidents, including snow removal and anti-icing.
• Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
• Assist in traffic control and safety measures in work zones.
• Maintain documentation and ensure contract compliance where applicable.
