Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a maintenance worker to assist in the construction, repair, and preservation of roads and bridges on the state highway system. You may operate standard motorized equipment such as dump trucks and flatbeds to haul materials and support maintenance tasks.

Under direct supervision, you will perform vegetation management, sign maintenance, drainage work, pothole repairs, and other duties.

Qualifications

• No minimum training or experience required.
• Must obtain Class A CDL within 6 months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair roads and bridges on the state highway system under supervision.
• Operate dump trucks, flatbeds, and support equipment for hauling materials and performing maintenance tasks.
• Perform vegetation management, drainage work, sign installation/repair, and pothole/base repairs as needed.
• Assist in emergency or inclement weather operations and respond to department needs.
