Job summary

Sauk County is seeking a Highway Operator I to maintain highways and transportation infrastructure in Sauk County. The role involves operating a range of road maintenance equipment and performing routine vehicle maintenance to ensure safe, efficient roadways for the public.

Ideal candidates will have a High School diploma or equivalent and a Wisconsin driver’s license; a CDL may be obtained within 6 months. On-call hours during winters are common.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Current Wisconsin driver license; ability to obtain CDL within 6 months.
• Two years of heavy equipment operating experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate road maintenance and repair equipment and vehicles.
• Perform maintenance and basic repairs on tools and equipment.
• Provide traffic control and support during snow removal and emergencies.
