Job summary

Jefferson County’s Highway Department is hiring for a road maintenance role in Wisconsin. The team maintains 390 lane-miles of state highways and a variety of county and town roads, performing repairs, snow removal, sign installation, and equipment maintenance.

We require a high school diploma or equivalent with three years of related experience; four years preferred. Class A CDL is desirable, with an hourly wage starting at $25.98 and potential increases up to $34.96 based on performance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination.
• Preferred: four years of related experience and/or training; Class A CDL.

Responsibilities

• Operate light and heavy road maintenance equipment to perform paving, shoulder maintenance, grading, sweeping, sealcoating, patching, and striping.
• Perform shoulder to right-of-way maintenance, clear debris, cut brush and trees, mow roadsides, and manage vegetation.
• Inspect, install, replace, and maintain culverts and drainage; clean streams, ditches, and drain structures; clear debris.
• Prepare safe work sites and clear hazards.
• Perform winter maintenance and shop maintenance.
